What is a Blog?

Blogging is a particular type of web-logging. It is used to share information to an assigned audience or the entire world wide web. Blogs are popular for journaling, sharing thoughts and posting pictures. Blogs are very user-friendly and posts are in chronological order.


Why all the hype? How has it enhanced the educational world?


Blogs are being used by major corporations, small networks, clubs, universities, and now elementary classrooms. Student Blogging is becoming very popular in today's classroom. More and more teachers are using blogs and setting up personal-monitored accounts for their students to use. This is an excellent Web 2.0 tool to really engage students in their learning. They open up their creativity and reach a larger audience. Blogs are a powerful teaching tool allowing reading, writing, discusions, sharing and collaboration. Students form ownership in what they post on their blog.
